Four young men achieved a mutual goal and a dream when they got on the stage of Helsinki’s Kantis in March 2009. The event was very significant as it was the band’s first proper show and a result of hard work, determination and dedication. The band’s name is Krypton.
The line-up of the band took its current form in 2008 as Petja Turunen joined Pirkka Birkstedt and the founding members; Roope Olenius and Joonas Juntunen. Though it was the need to play and compose music that drove this four-piece together, it has been friendship that tied them into a real band.
Krypton plays metal, which takes its major influences from the great acts of the eighties (Metallica, Megadeth, Testament, Slayer & Iron Maiden) without forgetting to break traditional genre barriers and to add new ingredients into the mix. The band’s intention is to play music that feels right, whether it is a bare acoustic part or death screaming over blastbeat drumming.
The future plans for Krypton are obvious. On short term the aim is to release new songs and play as much live shows as possible. On long term the four-piece intents to fight for the dreams that put them together in the first place.
